whoa ... my 8th grade social studies class split up into groups and did this very thing. before 'teh internets,' it was a little bit harder to find the references!

Still think the song is a big rip-off of R.E.M.'s "It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)."

Maybe you can tackle that one next.

6th grade for me - and I as well before teh internets. Kids these days don't know how good they have it.

Hey Jackass,
REM came after this song. SO I guess they ripped it off of Billy Joel. Get your shit straight!

Um, no, REM's song came first. REM - 1988, Joel - 1989. Check the Wikipedia entries and please apologize, dumbass.

This song is a kind of pathetic baby-boom whine. Joel should have stayed at the piano where he was much better. Except Italian Restaurant, wich is horrible.

I just remembered that a kid in camp tried to convince me it was "trouble in the sewers," and that that was a reference to a secret C.H.U.D. epidemic.

A time capsule in music. If music survives the next four years that is.
