FYI: The Foundation is funded entirely by Philip Anschutz, the guy who....
* Was named one of the world's top 100 richest people and "the greediest executive in America" by Forbes Magazine * Made his fortune in oil (like when he tried to drill through sacred Native American rock drawings, with the support of President Bush) * Owns the largest movie theater chain in America, yet pushed his own film The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe in evangelical churches * Bribed politicians to let him build a "super casino" in Manchester, England (the world capital of destitute ex-factory workers) * Is a major donor to George W. Bush & Rick Santorum * Funded the group behind Colorado's Amendment 2, which aimed to deny gays any protection from discrimination, and was ultimately thrown out by the U.S. Supreme Court * Was sued by the state of New York for $1.5 billion in "unjust revenue" * Funds an anti-pornography website run by Donna Rice Hughes (the Monica Lewinsky of the 1980s) which features a chapter entitled "The Final Solution"

I knew it was evil! Thanks!
Your blog doesn't get much traffic so I decided to comment. I'm glad he has an anti pornography website. More power to him. I also love the foundation and what it does. Very worthy cause.
Checking out this site,it looks good.I hope more people will spend their money encouraging people to live better,I know I am always encouraged by their adds
Thanks Rod
Sounded great - what an idea!! THEN, I checked further and found that this dispicable person was involved. I'll do good on my own, thank you!
:-(
There are many people doing great good in the world who have really messed up personal lives. The fact that someone is a jerk, and don't get me wrong, I agree this guy's a jerk, doesn't mean that the message is worthless. I just saw the 'encouragement' commercial, where a kid is on a concert stage, playing twinkle, twinkle, and the pianist helps him. I thought that was marvelous. If it causes one person, just one, to not yell at their kid today, how is that a bad thing? They don't accept donations from other people, they're not using this as an excuse to generate more money.
Did you know that Alfred Nobel, founder of the Nobel Prizes, was a munitions dealer/maker? He did that Nobel Prize thing so he wouldn't be remembered forever as the guy who got millions of people killed.
The one TV ad that really upsets me is the one showing two African-American children building a brick wall for two adult African-American men walking up and down an apparent loading dock.
It says it promotes "hard work". However, to me, this is pure and simple child labor at its worst! I cannot believe that any TV station would carry an ad that promotes breaking any law, much less the child labor laws. What next, "children's sweatshops".. there are a good thing!??? Good grief, I hope others are not fooled by this glitzy deception. And guess what, it was in the middle of an episode of Martha Stewart!
My 7 year old son is very moved when he sees and hears the spot with Josh Groban singing "You Lift Me Up". I am also. It is beautiful. These spots DO motivate and inspire me and they have NO ajenda that I can see.
I've been trying to find information on the Foundation and it's founder. The foundation appears to support values like integrity and honesty which do not seem like bad things in and of themselves.
There is no excuse for trampling a peoples historical heritage - about the Native American rock drawings, I read in Wikipedia that the controversy appeared to take place in 2001, and that In April 2002, the Anschutz Exploration Corporation gave up its plans to drill for oil in the area. They donated its leases for oil and gas rights to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which seems honorable. I know that Wikipedia can be inaccurate - but this seems like a pretty big fact to make up.
I have not been able to find evidence that that Mr. Anschutz is working with the group that funded Colorado's Amendment 2 (this does not guaranetee one way or another that he has worked with them - if anyone has evidence of this, please post it and the source). All people deserve protection under the rights of our constitution, and the best values we can ever learn are love and tolerance.
As far as Donna Rice, she seems to have turned her life around - she is married and her organization, Enough is Enough, emphasizes the protection of children from online content and predators - I see nothing wrong with that. I visited her site, and did not see anything called The Final Solution. Personally, I agree with Anonymous that an anti-ponography site is a good thing, as what passes for adult content today denigrates women, men, and relationships between them.
Moderation is usually the best policy. Unfortunately, it's becoming a pretty rare concept, especially in how we treat each other. Even in disagreements of opinion, both the right and the left tend to deal with hyperbole. If we let emotions rule our arguments, we can battle for ages without anything ever getting done.
Blakeney
The ad with the two boys building a wall is about child labor?! Good grief! Just goes to show that any good thing can be twisted and perverted by others.
It was a father teaching his sons the value of working hard and never giving up. If they weren't children of color would you have thought the same?! UGH
After reading these slanderous lies about Philip Anschutz, I have donated $500 to the Foundation for a Better Life. I am a Roman Catholic Christian, not an Evangelical Christian and find what the Foundation represents is what ALL AMERICANS SHOULD BE, hard working, good people who help each other and do the right thing! Thanks "People Paula" for Slandering him, I am now a fan of the man! If all Americans did like Philip Anschutz organization wanted, we'd in a much better place. His association with the greatest President since Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush makes me like him even more!
NancyB, you have a right to your opinions.
I have to disagree with Mr. Anschultz and other ultra conservatives who insist on taking away rights from other people.
How did Nancy B donate $500 to the foundation? Their website says they don't accept donations!
Thanks....NOW I REALLY like this foundation....love the commercials and wondered who was behind it. It seems to have very positive messages and no particular hidden agenda...the negative comments on this site helped form my opinion...thanks, Grandmother/Christian/consevative/southern/pro life/pro freedom of speech....you get the picture....
Nancy B. It seems strange that you were able to donate $500 to the foundation, since they do not accept donations.
What else is not true in your comment>
I think Phillip Anshutz's wealth should be seized and distributed among websites like People Paula who enlightens us havenots with her pearls of wisdom. Paula for President.
Every time I look up a benevolent sounding institution it turns out to be owned by a card carrying Illuminati, member of the Council on Foreign Relations or Bilderberg Group. And its aims are the exact opposite from its name. The owners of this matrix of lies won't allow a truly benevolent person to start a foundation. Evil has a monopoly on them.
To secure your freedom from the matrix, you must perfect ownership of your real name and government created corporate name (in all caps) with a UCC-1 (now called just UCC) & Financing Statement and Name Copyright Notice. When you own your names, they can't be used against you.
I see that Anshutz is one of the owners of the LA Lakers. Maybe the Hollywood Hippocrates will stop attending games in protest.
So we are supposed to believe that:
1. Oil is chiefly found underneath sacred Indian art work and that drilling is unregulated by the U.S. government.
2. All profits are "unjust".
3. Pornography is good.
4. Religious freedom of speech (showing a film that you made in a movie theater you own) is bad.
5. Keeping the traditional definition of marriage "denies gays from any protection from discrimination."
Little wonder why the Left has diminishing credibility.
After seeing a commercial that I thought was very inspiring, I decided to not only visit the site and investigate...Just another Bate and Switch site...I guess I am too far to the left for this site...I'm moving on
I knew there was something sinister behind this values site. I suspected LDS, but thanks for the truth. How did Nancy donate $500 if they don't accept donations?
